Dyeing my own yarn

My very first skein of sock yarn. I’ve started with Cool Aid, using pink lemonade, grape & blue raspberry. I was surprised how much you need, reading the instructions I thought 2 sachets would be fine, but the yarn just absorbed it so fast, I was left with 2 white sections. I quickly made up the grape, & blended it into the other colours, I added some little transition splashes of colour.

Here’s the yarn drying after a quick ‘cook’ in the microwave & a rinse. I was surprised no colour came out.

I have several crochet projects on the go so this will have to wait, until I have time.

  1. This is beautiful… I love the colours you chose, although I’m not sure I’d ever drink Cool-Aid after seeing how well it works as a dye! I bet it smelled lovely as you were working with it, too 😀
